First of all, in looking to revive my “old” blog I never could have anticipated the disappointment I would feel in myself for the nearly 3-year gap between posts. Yikes! When last I wrote, we were just moving into our home, and oh how things have changed. Let’s fill in the gap quickly, shall we?
For Brian and I, the packing extravaganza continued this weekend – yippee!! Or should I say….YUCK! The more I do the less I like it, but I will say we’re nearly there and I can’t help but think about the light at the end of this cluttered, box-filled tunnel…our house! Just 5 more days and we’ll be moving in. I can’t wait.
Now, I wouldn’t exactly call myself an expert on all things packing related, but I will say that I have mastered the art of packing up myself at the very least. My credentials: in college, there was one 12-month period where I believe I moved six times in and out of either campus buildings, Brian’s parent’s house and my first apartment. At one point I was even living out of my car! No – not a lie. Ask anyone at my family reunion if they remember me driving in with clothes piled clear to the ceiling of my little white Malibu, rolling the windows down when I needed something out.
In addition to the happiness of my dance competition this weekend, I had the wonderful opportunity to spend time with one of my bridesmaids, Lauren, who was visiting the Boston area for business this week. What a treat! You see, Lauren and her fiance (who are getting married this October….THIS October!!! 🙂 ), recently moved back to Indianapolis. While I miss her terribly, I”m super excited for the new beginnings the two of them are starting together there.
I digress…we went shopping for bridesmaid dresses!!
Ok…so I”m a bit crazy about dancing. Always have been. Growing up, I’d pull the shades down in my bedroom and dance to any anything and everything, groove to a song in the shower, and to this day, I can’t sit still when a good beat comes on the radio. I can’t help it! Music is in my DNA and I just love it, Love It, LOVE IT!
We’re down to 15 days until the big move – I can’t believe it! The Uhaul is booked, the financial commitment received, title secured – all is good! And yet no matter how excited I am about our new home, this next phase of my life with Brian, and the prospect of being so much closer to our families and friends…I will never. Get excited. About packing.
A little over a week ago Brian and I were treated to our first big engagement present – a HUGE party hosted by his parents at their home in Massachusetts! In preparation for the party, Brian and I had quite the schedule prepared:
- 10:00 Bridesmaid Dress Appointment at David’s Bridal
- 12:00 Appointment to see our new home with the entire family.
- 1:00 Super quick-lunch
- 1:30 Engagement photos, taken by none other than my talented sister Kaitlyn.
- 3:30 Get dressed and ready to party!
As I mentioned before, with another bunch of bridesmaids in the area, I had to take advantage of the time I had with them! Off to David’s Bridal we went for round 2 of shopping for the perfect dresses. With me this time around was my sister Kaitlyn (Maid of Honor #2), and two of my closest girlfriends, Megan and Lisette. I regret to say I was QUITE late for this appointment – and for any of you who know me at all, you know that reaaaaalllly irritates me – so by the time I got there they had already take a look through the dress selection.
